DADRI (Greater Noida) : An Uttar Pradesh police sub-inspector, Akhtar Ali Khan was shot dead allegedly by criminals in Dadri on Monday morning. Akhtar Khan, who joined UP police in 1998 as constable and was posted in Dadri police station since June 11, 2014. According to reports the incident took place in Nai Basti of Dadri, which is hardly a few meters away from the Dadri police station.
Interstingly after shooting the cop, the criminals managed to flee from the scene without getting any harm from police side. reports quoting Eyewitnesses said that as Akhtar was shot dead, other cops, waiting outside the house, fled from the scene.
Gautam Budh Nagar senior superintendent of police Kiran S said that Dadri police station had received a tip off that a dreaded criminal identified as Javed was staying in a house owned by one Furkan in Nai Basti area. Akhtar with his team had gone to raid the place. “Akhtar went inside the house, while other cops were waiting outside. Criminals shot him on the neck and he died on the spot. After shooting Akhtar dead, criminals managed to flee from the spot,” Kiran S said.
As of now, other details are sketchy. Javed is wanted in several criminal cases in Delhi and UP. We have recovered some pistols and 12 bore live cartages from the house,” he added.
“The police team was conducting a raid at Nai Abadi area to arrest a criminal Fukran who was wanted in many cases of armed robberies. Khan was leading the team. He was the first to enter in the house of the suspect. As he stepped inside the house, one of the suspects started firing. He got shot in the neck and died at the spot,” said Anurag Singh, deputy superintendent of police, Dadri.
