The resignation tendered by Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman from the post of the Leader of Opposition in the 11th Tripura Legislative Assembly has been accepted by the Speaker.
MLA-cum-Working President Ashish Kumar Saha and President of Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress Sushanta Chowdhury declared to resign from their respective posts.
Addressing media persons in Agartala, the leaders said that they have sent resignation letter to President of Indian National Congress Sonia Gandhi.
They told media that their decision came after the alliance of Left Front with Congress in the Assembly Election in West Bengal. They termed the alliance as unethical and opportunistic.
Ashish Kumar Saha told media that he was completely shocked by the fact that Congress had compromised its values and past glorious history by making an alliance with Left Front. This decision has hurt the sentiments of our party workers, he stated.
