After days of confrontation, the Shani Shingnapur trust today took the decision to allow women devotees to enter the holy platform of the famous temple. Earlier today, dozens of male devotees broke barricades to enter the innermost area of the temple in violation of the trust’s restrictions on both male and female devotees. The men were earlier allowed to offer prayers inside the inner sanctum.
However, after the controversy over women’s entry unfolded, the temple trust banned entry of all. Reacting on the action of villager’s today trustees declared that now they will not take objection on the entry of any one on the holy platform. It is not yet clear that whether villagers will allow women to enter the holy platform or not. Meanwhile, reports said that activist Trupti Desai from Pune is all set to march towards the historic temple today.
