BJP President Amit Shah has hit out at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi over his “Gandhi is ours, Savarkar yours” remark and asked the BJP cadres to launch a nation-wide movement against Congress on the issue of nationalism. Addressing a farmers’ rally at Kadodara near Surat in Gujarat, Mr Shah said that Congress is now hell bent on insulting our national heroes.
BJP President said that we have no hesitation in accepting that Savarkar is ours. BJP workers take inspiration from Savarkar’s life and his love for country. Rahul Gandhi, while participating in a debate in the Lok Sabha earlier this month had made a reference to Savarkar, telling the treasury benches that we have Gandhi, you have Savarkar.
BJP president also came down heavily on Congress for senior party leader Shashi Tharoor’s remarks drawing a parallel between legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and JNU Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar facing sedition charges. Mr.Shah said that Congress is now comparing Bhagat Singh to Kanhaiya Kumar and supporting those who want to break India into pieces.
Calling for a nation-wide movement against Congress on the issue of nationalism, Mr. Shah said that it is the duty of each BJP worker to reach out to every household in the country to rejuvenate the love for our nation and build an army of patriots. BJP chief also asked the party workers to brace state Assembly elections to be held during the next year. He said that Congress failed to abolish poverty from India, to provide jobs to the youth and also failed to develop villages. This is the reason why Congress is losing power in various states.
