CPI-M deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Md Salim today gave notice of privilege under Rule 223 of the House, stating that the statement given HRD minister Smriti Irani during the discussion under 193 on the situation arising of recent incidents in the institutions of higher education in reference to JNU and Hyderbad Universites, on 24 February, 2016, has glaring inconsistencies.
According Mr Salim, using the opportunity to speak as a minister during reply, she misled the entire nation by a statement which is far from truth and factually incorrect.
“This is a clear case of breach of privilege. I would like to request you to take appropriate action by allowing this notice,” a letter by Mr Salim to Lok Sabha Secretary General said.
