Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday called for expanding counter-terrorism efforts across the globe.He emphasized the need for fostering joint cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts across the world.

Iranian leader made the remarks here at a joint press conference with his Swiss counterpart. President Rouhani also called for precise implementation of the World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) resolution.

In December 2013, the General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to approve President Rouhani’s WAVE proposal, which called on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.

‘Iran and Switzerland could pave the way for fostering mutual cooperation including presenting humanitarian aids to Yemen and Syria,’ he added. ‘The two sides enjoy common sense in mutual and regional issues,’ President Rouhani added.

‘Iran and Switzerland are determined to expand mutual relations,’ he said, reiterating that this visit could be fruitful for expansion of mutual relations.

Earlier at meeting with Swiss President Johann Schneider-Ammann President Hassan Rouhani said that as the first step in fight with terrorists, their financial and arms supplies should be cut off.
All countries should help boost stability and security in the Middle East region, said President Rouhani.
Following implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and lifting of economic sanctions, the grounds are now well-prepared for expansion of all-out relation and cooperation between the two countries. Iran welcomes expansion of comprehensive relations with Switzerland, President Rouhani said.

During nuclear talks between Iran and G5+1, Switzerland played a very good and constructive role in resolving the dispute, he said.

The Swiss president arrived in Tehran on Friday.
