V-P AnsariVice President of India Mohd Hamid Ansari will be embarking on a two-nation tour to Brunei Darussalam and Thailand from Monday. During the five-day visit to the South East Asian countries, talks on various subjects ranging from bilateral, regional and international developments will be held.

Signing of agreements to cooperate on different fields is also expected to take place during the visit. Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary and four Members of Parliament will be accompanying the Vice President during the visit.

This will be the first ever visit of a Vice President of India to the resources rich Brunei Darussalam. At capital Bandar Seri Begawan, Mr Hamid Ansari will meet the Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzadin Waddaulah and the Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah. Cooperation in civil aviation, space and information and communication will be the focus of the discussions.

MoU’s on defence and health are being worked out to be signed during the visit. In Thailand, Mr Hamid Ansari will meet the Prime Minister Prayot Chan-o-cha and the princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, an Indophile. The two countries are expanding their defence, education and tourism cooperation on a wider scale. The visit is set to give a boost to India’s Act East Policy.
