Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said , India would not progress from Delhi only. He said that States must play important role in country’s progress. Speaking in the Hindustan Time Leadership Summit in New Delhi Mr Modi said, India is seen as one of the fastest growing economies in the world and the states must work hand in hand with the Centre to keep the pace going.

Mr Modi said, a stable government was necessary for economic growth and people have done a great job by giving the NDA a clear mandate. Mr Modi said there was an atmosphere of disappointment earlier but the mandate NDA has got from people was the first step towards change. He also stressed upon the need that, states have most important role in improving the ease of doing business in India.

Allaying fears over logjam in Parliament, Modi said, Parliament is working now and the credit does not go to Prime Minister Modi but to all the parties. The prime Minister also made sure that the foreign policy which India follows is in tandem with its aspiration of growing into a global power. He said, the development of India’s eastern part cannot be ignored as they are regions with great potential.

Speaking at the summit, Mr Modi said, 3000 villages have been electrified against a target of 1,900 in 100 days by the government. The Prime Minister said the pending work on core industry projects, including coal and power industry, has begun and power generation capacity in India is growing annually at 8.5 per cent.
