Father of an Air Force man lynched over cow slaughter rumours in UP..

The lynching of a Muslim man in Dadri in UP was not an accident as claimed by a central minister Mahesh Sharma, but a pre-planned conspiracy, said the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) in its report released today.

The minority commission, headed by former bureaucrat Naseem Ahmed, has requested “political establishment” to ask their cadres and sympathisers not to use the Dadri incident for political dividend. The commission has criticised the political leaders who gave irresponsible statements on this horrific incident in which a 58 year old Mohammad Akhlaq was brutally killed by a mob.

Critical of the state government’s role, the commission has said that there was no “intelligence gathering” despite suspicious activities carried out by some hardliner groups in the area. The report says that a campaign of hatred is being carried out in western Uttar Pradesh where the situation is getting worse each day.

Giving details of the Dadri incident, the report says that a large number of people gathered in a temple and planned to attack Akhlaq’s family. Several responsible people gave irresponsible statements to further vitiate the atmosphere. The commission also held the social media responsible for the flare up.

A three-member team of the Commission, headed by its Chairman Naseem Ahmad, had visited Bishada village near Dadri in Uttar Pradesh, and interacted with the family members of the victim, the concerned authorities and locals.

It said, all the political establishments need to counsel their cadres and sympathisers to desist from making irresponsible statements and making capital out of such outrages.

The Commission sought vigilance and curb on the use of social media as it is being extensively used to flare up communal passions.

The commission has requested the state government and the police to expedite the probe and provide alternative house to the four affected families living in Bishada village.
