The Election Commission today issued notification for the first phase of assembly elections in Bihar. 49 constituencies spread over 10 districts will go to polls in this phase on the 12th of next month. Candidates can file their nomination from 11 am to 3 pm. Last date for filing of nominations for this phase is 23rd of this month. Scrutiny will be held the next day. Candidates can withdraw their nominations till the 26th of this month.
The election for the first phase of election will be held in districts of Samastipur, Begusarai,Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Nawada and Jamui. Elections for the 243 member Bihar Assembly will be held in five phases between the 12th of next month and 5th of November. Counting will be held on the 8th of November. The term of the current Assembly expires on 29th November.
