US President Donald Trump has named Stephen Miller, a key architect of his hardline immigration policies, as the new White House Chief of Staff. The appointment follows major losses for the Republican Party in the US midterm elections, which resulted in the party losing control of both chambers of Congress.
Miller will replace Susie Wiles, who has stepped down from the position. President Trump praised her work, saying she had done a very good job, but added that changes were sometimes necessary.
The 41-year-old Miller is one of President Trump’s closest aides and currently serves as Deputy Chief of Staff. He also held a senior advisory position during Trump’s first administration. He is scheduled to assume his new responsibilities on Monday.
