Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said, India is open to Chinese suppliers to meet its growing import needs, but will take action through established legal procedures if any unfair pricing is detected. Mr Goyal stated this while talking to reporters in The Hague during his two-day official visit to the Netherlands. He expressed hope that India will emerge as a major exporter to China and the ASEAN region in the coming years. He stressed that India believes in free and fair trade with all countries.
The Commerce and Industry Ministry said India also wants greater access to international markets for its goods and services on a reciprocal basis. He expressed confidence that India would become a major exporter to China and Southeast Asian countries in the years ahead. His remarks come amid a significant rise in bilateral trade between India and China.
According to the Commerce Ministry, bilateral trade between the two countries rose by around 29 per cent to 91.76 billion US dollars during April to September of the current financial year, making China India’s largest trading partner in the first half of 2026-27.
Meanwhile, Mr Goyal said India would work to address the impact of China’s new export controls on key machinery, including tunnel boring machines
