The United States has ordered non-emergency government employees and their family members to leave Saudi Arabia amid growing security threats from Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in Yemen. In a social media post, State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the decision followed increasing Houthi attacks on Saudi civilian airports and critical infrastructure, causing casualties and travel disruptions.

The move comes amid escalating regional tensions following the US-Israeli war on Iran, which has disrupted global energy trade and affected Gulf economies. The US Embassy in Riyadh recently warned of possible further Houthi attacks after deadly strikes, including on the Saudi capital’s airport.
