Saudi Arabia says it has intercepted and destroyed four drones over Riyadh, the Eastern Province and southern regions, as Houthi attacks continue. In a separate incident, two crew members were killed when a reconnaissance helicopter crashed in the kingdom’s Najran region due to a technical malfunction, according to the Saudi-led coalition.

Meanwhile, Egypt is preparing to discuss potential support for Saudi Arabia’s defences, with parliament set to hold an emergency session on Sunday after President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi sought authorisation to provide assistance if requested by Riyadh.

In Yemen, Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a missile attack on Aden International Airport on Friday. Two missiles landed within the airport complex, around 500 metres from a Yemenia Airways aircraft preparing to depart for Cairo. Yemen’s information minister said passengers and crew were safe.

Separately, a tugboat travelling south near the UAE’s Khor Fakkan reported being struck by two unidentified projectiles, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency. The vessel sustained damage, and one person suffered minor injuries, but the tug continued on its route. An LNG tanker off Yemen’s Mukalla also reported coming under gunfire from people aboard a small skiff.
