Hyderabad Liberation Day is being observed today, commemorating the historic merger of the erstwhile Hyderabad princely state with the Indian Union on September 17th, 1948.
The Central Government has been officially organising Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations since 2022. This year’s main programme will be held at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds with Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan as the Chief Guest.
Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with several other dignitaries, will participate in the celebrations.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has greeted the people of the erstwhile Hyderabad region, comprising Telangana, Hyderabad-Karnataka and Marathwada, on Hyderabad Liberation Day.
Mr Shah said the day recalls the patriotism and valour of the people who fought against the oppressive rule of the Nizam and Razakars and united with India. He said the occasion strengthens the spirit of unity as one nation. Mr Shah also paid homage to the martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice for freedom.
