The Delhi Police on Sunday clarified that it has neither received any application nor granted permission for the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) proposed ‘Chalo Sansad’ march to Parliament on July 20, warning that any violation of prohibitory orders will invite legal action.
Addressing the issue, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Sachin Sharma said reports about the proposed march were being closely monitored, but no request seeking permission had been submitted by the organisers.
“In view of reports about a proposed march to Parliament by the Cockroach Janta Party on July 20, it is categorically clarified that no application seeking permission for such a march has been received by the Delhi Police, nor has any permission been granted,” Sharma said in an official statement.
The DCP said prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) are currently in force throughout the New Delhi district. Under these restrictions, the assembly of five or more persons, protest marches and demonstrations are prohibited, except at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar and only with prior permission from the authorities.
The clarification comes a day before the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, when security arrangements across the national capital have been significantly strengthened.
Sharma said elaborate security measures would remain in place around the Parliament complex and other key government installations to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the session.
He warned that any person found violating the prohibitory orders issued under Section 163 of the BNSS would be liable for legal action.
The Delhi Police also appealed to the public to comply with the law, refrain from participating in any unauthorised gatherings or marches, and cooperate with the authorities in maintaining peace and security in the capital.
The statement follows calls by the Cockroach Janta Party for a march to Parliament as part of its ongoing protest over alleged irregularities in national entrance examinations, including the NEET-UG paper leak controversy. Police have maintained that no unauthorised procession towards Parliament will be allowed in view of the prevailing security arrangements.
