The Jammu and Kashmir government has declared leprosy a notifiable disease with immediate effect on the orders of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that under the new directive, all government and private healthcare facilities must mandatorily report every diagnosed case of leprosy to the designated health authorities. The measure aims to strengthen disease surveillance, ensure early diagnosis and timely treatment, and prevent further transmission.
The decision is expected to support the national goal of achieving a Leprosy-Free India through improved monitoring, effective case management and coordinated public health interventions.
