The Jharkhand government has introduced a new reward policy to encourage informants and whistleblowers who provide information about drug trafficking, illegal production and peddling of narcotic substances. According to the notification, individuals and government officials who assist in action taken under the NDPS Act 1985, will be eligible for cash rewards based on the significance of their contribution, the risks involved, and the results achieved. The initiative aims to protect young people from the harmful effects of drug abuse and strengthen efforts to curb the illegal supply of narcotic substances. Under the policy, informants may receive rewards of up to 2 lakh rupees or more per case, while government officials may be awarded 1 lakh rupees or more for their role in successful enforcement actions.
