Security measures have been intensified across central Delhi on Saturday as the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) launched its protest at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged lapses in public examinations and evaluation systems.
The demonstration, scheduled to begin at 10 am, comes amid mounting criticism over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and complaints regarding irregularities linked to CBSE’s on-screen marking and re-evaluation process. CJP leaders say the movement seeks accountability and reforms in examination governance.
Authorities made extensive preparations ahead of the gathering amid expectations of large public participation. Delhi Police strengthened deployment around Jantar Mantar and adjoining areas, installed barricades and put traffic diversions in place across parts of central Delhi to prevent congestion and maintain order. Reports indicated that over 1,000 police personnel were kept on standby for crowd management and security monitoring. Commuters were advised to avoid affected stretches and use Delhi Metro where possible.
There were conflicting accounts over procedural approvals before the event. While some reports indicated police had initially said no formal request had been received, later updates stated that permission was granted for the protest window at Jantar Mantar after organisers completed required formalities.
Social activist Sonam Wangchuk had earlier announced support for the demonstration, saying concerns extended beyond a single examination controversy and reflected wider questions about the quality and direction of education in India.
The movement is led by Abhijeet Dipke, who travelled to India to lead the mobilisation. CJP emerged recently as a satirical online campaign but has rapidly evolved into an organised youth platform focused on education, employment and governance issues.
Ahead of the protest, organisers circulated instructions asking participants to remain peaceful, carry national flags and follow directions at the venue, while police maintained that arrangements were aimed at ensuring both public safety and uninterrupted civic movement.
