The Delhi unit of the All India Unani Tibbi Congress held an important meeting under the chairmanship of Dr. Shakeel Ahmad to discuss the future roadmap for promoting and strengthening the Unani system of medicine.
The meeting was attended by national office-bearers of the organisation, including Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, Prof. S. M. Arif Zaidi, Dr. Shahid Shah Chaudhry, Israr Ahmad Ujjaini and Advocate Shah Jabi Qazi, along with Delhi state office-bearers. Participants acknowledged their contributions toward the promotion of Unani medicine and discussed future strategies for expanding its reach.
During the deliberations, members held detailed discussions on the comprehensive development of Unani medical science and appreciated government initiatives in the traditional healthcare sector.
A key demand emerging from the meeting was the upgradation of the historic Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College into a university. The institution was established by noted freedom fighter and physician Hakim Ajmal Khan, and participants urged the government to grant it university status in recognition of its historical and academic significance.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by senior vice-president of the Delhi unit, Dr. Mirza Asif Beg.
