Fresh hopes have emerged for the restructuring of the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language after the Ministry of Education, Government of India sent an official response indicating that the process of reconstituting the council is underway.

According to Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, national president of the Urdu Development Organisation, the government’s reply confirmed that the reconstitution of the Executive Board and Governing Council is in its final stages, while the formation of the Finance Committee is also under consideration.
Dr. Khan said the response from the Centre is a positive signal and expressed hope that the restructuring process will be completed soon, allowing the council to resume its full role in promoting the Urdu language. Sources said that once the reorganisation is finalised, academic programmes, publications and other initiatives of the council are expected to restart, giving fresh momentum to Urdu-related educational and cultural activities.
