Jishnu Dev Varma was sworn in as the Governor of Maharashtra this evening. He was administered the oath of office by the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay, at Darbar Hall, Lok Bhavan, in Mumbai. Mr. Varma succeeds Acharya Devvrat, the Governor of Gujarat, who was holding the additional charge as Maharashtra Governor.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, cabinet ministers, top bureaucrats and police officers were present on the occasion.
