The Uttarakhand government has recommended a CBI inquiry into the high-profile Ankita Bhadari case. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the decision has been taken in response to the request of Ankita’s parents.
The Chief Minister stated that the government’s objective has been to ensure justice throughout the process in a fair, transparent, and sensitive manner. He reiterated his firm and sensitive commitment to securing justice for Ankita Bhandari, stressing that no fact or evidence will be ignored.
It may be recalled that after the case came to light in 2022, an SIT led by a woman IPS officer was constituted, all the accused were arrested, and strong legal representation ensured that no bail was granted. After the investigation, a charge sheet was filed, and the lower court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment.
