Top military chiefs of Bangladesh on Sunday (Dec 21) held a high-level meeting with the Election Commission to review the law and order situation ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election and a referendum.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at Nirbachan Bhaban around noon, was attended by Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, along with election commissioners and senior EC officials.

According to EC sources, discussions focused on election-time security, maintaining peace before and after polling, recovery of illegal arms, curbing criminal activity and coordinating joint-force operations. The implementation of the “Code of Conduct 2025” for candidates and political parties was also reviewed.

The election and referendum will be held simultaneously on February 12.
