HashimpuraThe Uttar Pradesh government has filed an appeal in the Delhi High Court against a Delhi court verdict in the Hashimpura ​massacre ​case. UP additional advocate general Zafaryab Jilani said​ that now the Registry will go through it and we will answer the objections raised by it and the law will take its course.

On the 8th of this month, the state government had directed its law department to file an appeal before the Delhi High Court against the 1987 Hashimpura massacre case verdict​ in which a Delhi court in March, giving benefit of doubt, had acquitted all the 16 PAC personnel who were accused of killing 42 Muslims​.

A delegation of Muslim leaders from west UP had met the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav ​and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav ​earlier this week demanding speedy justice and financial aid to the victim families of Hashimpura and Maliana massacres that took place in Meerut 28 years ago. The UP government also announced a compensation of 5 lakh rupees each to the kin of the victims of the two massacres.
