Ministry of Cooperation to be major crusader in making India third largest economy says Amit Shah

Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah today said that it is the resolve of the  Government to make India the third largest economy by 2027 and the Ministry of Cooperation will play a stellar role in this glorious journey.

Addressing the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the National Federation of State Cooperative Banks Limited NAFSCOB in New Delhi this evening, Mr Shah said the government wants development which encompasses each and every citizen of the country. He said the participation of co-operatives is important in this development journey.

The Minister said the three-tier structure of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society PACS, District Cooperative Banks and State Cooperative Banks has played an important role in the progress made by the farmers and villages of the country. He said the Government has computerised almost all PACS as it is the soul of both District Central Cooperative Banks and State Cooperative Banks.

Mr Shah said, that if District Central Cooperative Bank and State Cooperative Banks have to be healthy, then it is important that PACS should also be healthy. He said India has all the potential to guide the world in the cooperative sector. Mr Shah said, today Indian cooperative brands of Dairy, IFFCO, Urban Cooperative Banks and District Cooperative Banks are moving towards becoming top brands globally.
