AMN / NEW DELHI
The Supreme Court granted bail today to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Kavitha in corruption and money laundering cases related to the alleged Delhi liquor policy case. A bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan noted that Kavitha had been in custody for around five months and that the probe against her by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was complete. The apex court set aside a July 1 Delhi High Court order denying her bail.
The ED arrested Kavitha from her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, on March 15, and she has been lodged at Tihar Jail since then. She was later arrested by the CBI on April 11 at the jail. Meanwhile, Kavitha has denied all the allegations against her.
