Calls for adopting environment friendly lifestyle to improve their future
President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, 2024 to nineteen exceptional children in New Delhi this evening. The award was conferred upon 19 children selected from all regions of the country for their achievements in the field of Art and Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Social Service and Sports. There are nine boys and ten girls among the awardees belonging to 18 States and Union Territories including two Aspirational Districts.
Speaking at the event President said that this award ceremony is an opportunity to encourage the amazing potential and talent of young achievers. The President said that children have versatile talents and they have immense potential to create their own identity through dedication and hard work. She said it is our duty to show them the right direction so that they can utilize their talent and energy properly. The President said that today India has an invaluable resource in the form of a large number of youth and this resource can play an important role in the progress of not only India but also the whole world.
The President noted that the physical activities are decreasing in young generations. She said that due to less physical activities many diseases which used to be very rare in children and youth are increasing today. The President appealed to youth to learn at least one sport and participate in it. She said that they may not take up sports as a career, but sports keep them physically and mentally healthy.
Women and Child Development Minister, Smriti Irani and Minister of State for Women and Child Development Munjpara Mahendrabhai were also present during the ocassion.
The awards are conferred upon the children in the age group of 5 to 18 years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also interact with Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar awardees tomorrow. The awardees will also participate in the Republic Day parade on the 26th of January.
