Gamlin was the Power Minister in Dorji Khandu’s cabinet. Dorji Khandu was killed in a chopper crash along with four others on Saturday.
The new Chief Minister Mr. Jarbom Gamlin was born in 1961 and was a Lok Sabha member from Arunachal Pradesh West a decade ago. He was the State Home Minister from 2004 to 2009.
Earlier, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Legislature Party met in Itanagar and passed a resolution authorizing Congress President Sonia Gandhi to choose the successor to Dorji Khandu.
Meanwhile Dorji Khandu’s last rights will be performed at his native place Tawang Friday with full state honour. All Central Government offices in the State will remain closed. The Arunachal Government has announced 7-days State mourning as a mark of respect to the late Chief Minister. Assam Government has also announced a 3-day state mourning in of honour Khandu.
The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi will visit here to pay their last respects to the late leader.
