HYDERABAD: In Andhra Pradesh, Kadapa Lok Sabha member Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today resigned from his Lok Sabha seat and announced his decision to quit the party. He faxed his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker this afternoon. His decision to quit the party and resign from Lok Sabha was revealed this morning in an open letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi . Stating that he has been suffering humiliation in silence over the political developments that had taken place in the last 14 months, Jaganmohan Reddy said he has no other option but leave the party. He said he would also resign from Lok Sabha membership while his mother Vijaya Lakshmi, who is representing Pulivendula constituency in the state Assembly will also quit.
Jagan has been increasingly hostile towards party high command for the past few days. He continued his “Consoling Tour- odarpu yatra” against the wishes of high command and a television channel owned by him launched even negative campaign against party leadership.
The sudden developments that are being taken place in Andhra Pradesh Congress party are paving way for newer political alignments in the state. Late Y S Rajasekhra Reddy’s son and Kadapa Lok Sabha Member Jaganmohan Reddy’s decision to quite the party and Loksabha Membership has opened up widespread political consultations across the party lines. In his 5-page open letter to Party President Sonia Gandhi, Jaganmohan Reddy has clearly stated his anger over the apparent decision to give cabinet berth to his uncle Vivekanda Reddy. Terming it disgusting politics to create fissures in his family, the young MP said attempts were being made to throw him out of the party. Though he said he and his mother would resign alone, large number of party workers including some MLA have gathered at his residence. Meanwhile, the newly sworn in Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy who has just come back from Delhi After a two-day visit and about to constitution his cabinet is holding a meeting with Praja Rajyam Party President Chiranjeevi. He is reportedly trying to harness support for his new Government from PRP in case of a need. On the other hand, the new developments are being monitored closely and discussed among the other parties including opposition TDP.
