ALIGARH: (AMN) The much awaited project of AMU centre in West Bengal is all set to begin on September 26. The West Bengal Chief Minister Budhadeb Bhattacharjee would lay the foundation stone for the Murshidabad AMU Center on September 26.


Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will be the Chief Guest at the function. Other dignitaries who are likely to grace the occasion include union minister Water Recourse Development Pawan Kumar Bansal and Union Minister of State for Human Resource development Mrs. D. Purandeshwari.


Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis preside over the function. The new centre will be a state-of-the-art, educational hubs for the local people.


Political compulsion in west Bengal compelled both the left and congress to expedite the process of AMU centre in the state.


While the West Bengal Government has facilitated transfer of 288 acres of Farakha Barage land from Water Resources Ministry, the finance minister Pranab Mukherjee extended all help for the project.


The Foundation Stone Ceremony will be held at Ahiron in Murshidabad District.
