KOLKATA: (AMN) In rare gesture of gratitude the West Bengal government has recommended the name of a Madarsa principal Anwar Hussain for National Teacher Award. Hussain would receive the highest recognition for a teacher on September 5 this year, at Rastrapati Bhavan.
Hussain is the headmaster of the Orgram Chatuspalli Madrasa of Burdwan, some 200 kilometer from here. The Madarsa is famous across the country for its secular nature. Here more Hindu students study than the Muslims.
When Hussain joined the Madrasa in1977, it had just 34 students. Today the Madrasa has 883 students of which about 555 are Hindus. The Madarsa has been upgraded to Higher Secondary level.
