In Sri Lanka, the price of a 12.5 kg domestic LPG cylinder will be reduced by 1005 rupees from midnight tonight.

Accordingly, the price of a domestic 12.5 kg cylinder is now priced at 3738 rupees. Five kg cylinder has been reduced by 402 rupees to Rs.1,502 and the price of 2.3Kg cylinder is reduced by 183 rupees to Rs.700.

Chairman of state-run Litro Gas Lanka, Muditha Peiris said it was the highest price reduction of Litro Gas in the company’s history.

He said that several factors, including the drop in gas prices in the global market and the strengthening of the Sri Lankan rupee, had influenced the significant price drop.

The prices of LPG had been raised over the last year as Sri Lanka made efforts to stay afloat during the economic crisis.
