Sri Lanka’s Power Minister Kanchana Wijesekara has said that a total of 11,219 project locations will be equipped with Roof Top Solar panels. In a tweet, he mentioned that 827 sites have already been surveyed. The project locations will also include 9176 religious institutes which will get 5-kilo Volt units. National Schools, state universities, technical colleges and key government buildings will be among the identified locations.
The renewable energy project is being funded through an Indian credit line of 100 million dollars. The minister added that under a separate programme all provincial schools and hospitals will also be covered.
