Uttarakhand government has announced an interim relief package of one lakh fifty thousand rupees each for the affected families of land subsidence in the state.  Secretary to the Chief Minister, R. Meenakshi Sundaram said, out of this, fifty thousand is for shifting households and one lakh rupees is being provided to the affected from the disaster relief fund. Talking to media persons in Joshimath, Mr Sundaram said, Government will provide four thousand rupees per month, for six consecutive months separately to those families who want to stay in a rented house.  He said all the demands of the disaster-affected people are being considered by the state government.

The administration has stepped up relief and rescue work in land subsidence areas. Mr Sundaram informed that, so far a total of 723 houses have developed cracks. He said, of these, 86 houses are in unsafe areas. 462 members of 131 families have been evacuated by the administration.
