Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the three thousand and 24 newly constructed EWS flats at Kalkaji in Delhi under ‘In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation’ Project. He also handed over the keys of these flats to eligible beneficiaries at Bhoomiheen Camp at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. In line with the vision of the Prime Minister to provide housing for all, slum rehabilitation in 376 Jhuggi Jhopri clusters is being undertaken by Delhi Development Authority. The objective of the rehabilitation project is to provide a better and healthy living environment to the residents of Jhuggi Jhopri clusters, with proper amenities and facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that it is a historic day as several citizens staying in Jhuggi -Jhopri clusters in Delhi will now have their own houses. He said, the government has achieved an important milestone by handing over keys of pucca houses to the poor.

The Prime Minister asserted that the welfare of poor is at the core of government’s policies. He said, the government is leaving no stone unturned to fulfil aspirations of citizens in the national capital. He stated that the aim of the central government is to turn Delhi into a grand city complete with all amenities in accordance with its status as the capital of the country. He added that work is going on to regularise the houses built in unauthorised colonies of Delhi through the PM-UDAY scheme.

Mr Modi assured that the government is committed to facilitate faster, safer and comfortable commute. Mr Modi highlighted that expansion of Delhi Metro has taken place with faster pace when NDA came to power in 2014. He said, network of metro which was only 190 kilometer in Delhi- NCR in 2014, has now expanded to around 400 kilometer. He further said that Delhi’s poor and middle class are both aspirational and talented.

The Prime Minister said, the Central government is ensuring Ease of Living for the poor in Delhi through One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme. He mentioned that the poor people of the national capital have also availed the benefits of free ration being provided by the government during Covid pandemic. He said country is moving on the path of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas for everyone’s upliftment.
