Haryana State Election Commission has announced the poll schedule for all three tiers of Panchayati raj institutions in 10 districts. These districts are Bhiwani, Fatehabad, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendergarh, Nuh, Panchkula, Panipat, and Yamunanagar. The Zila Parishad and panchayat Samiti elections will be conducted on October 30, while the panchayat poll will be held on November 2. Polling will be conducted from 7 am to 6 pm. With this, the model code of conduct has come into force in the 10 districts of Haryana going to the polls in the first phase.

Announcing polls at Panchkula, State election commissioner Dhanpat Singh said that the poll schedule for the remaining 12 districts would be announced later. He said that 33,500 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMS) have been supplied to the concerned districts and separate EVMs will be used for each post i.e. Sarpanch, Member Panchayat Samiti, and Member Zila Parishad. He said that 16,217 ballot boxes have also been supplied to all the districts. Ballot paper shall be used to elect Panch. Filing of nomination papers for the first phase will be from October 14 to 19.

Mr. Dhanpat Singh said that about 36,000 polling personnel including Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers, Supervisory Staff, Presiding Officers, Polling Officers, and other staff will be deployed to conduct free and fair polls. He said that adequate police force shall be deployed to maintain law and order at the polling stations and extra police force will be provided in sensitive and hyper-sensitive areas.

Haryana has 22 Zila Parishads, comprising 411 members. The members will in turn elect the 22 Zila Parishad chiefs. The state has 143 panchayat samitis, comprising 3,081 members, who will further elect their respective presidents.
