Severe heatwave is likely to continue for the next two to three days in Rajasthan.  Today Dholpur recorded a temperature of 46.5 degrees Celsius.  The temperature was 45.7 degrees in Karauli and 45.2 degrees in Churu.  Banasthali and Kota recorded 44.6 degrees Celsius, Alwar 44 degrees, Phalodi 43.8 degrees Celsius and Barmer 43.4 degrees Celsius.  On May 1, the maximum temperature in the districts of Jodhpur and Bikaner division can go up to 45 to 47 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility of a severe heatwave.  

Due to a new western disturbance on May 2 and 3, the western and northern parts of the state may experience thunderstorms with winds at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour. The scorching heat has made the condition of the people miserable.  Due to the hot winds, it has become difficult for people to come out of their homes.  During the day, normal life has become disturbed due to the scorching sun and heatwave. Due to the heat, the power and drinking water crisis has deepened. There are power cuts in rural and urban areas.

Today, Bharatiya Janata Party workers across the state staged a sit-in protest against the power cut.
