Central Government has released another installment of 35 per cent of India COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Phase II Package to all States. Health and Family Welfare Ministry has said, 50 per cent fund has been released so far to ensure implementation of critical activities at the State and District levels to prepare the public health care systems in response to the evolving pandemic.

Last month, Union Cabinet had approved this scheme amounting to 23 thousand 123 crore rupees. This scheme is to be implemented from 1st July 2021 to 31st March 2022.

This package will support States and Union Territories for the creation of 827 paediatric units in the districts which will result in additional creation of over 19 thousand oxygen supported and over 10 thousand ICU beds. In addition, fund will be utilized to install 961 Liquid Medical Oxygen Storage Tanks and to augment the existing fleet of ambulances.
