Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that this year’s Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar awards are special as the recipient earned them in the difficult times of Corona. Interacting with the young awardees today through video conferencing, Mr. Modi acknowledged the role of children in major behaviour-change campaigns like Swachata Movement. He said, when children got involved in campaigns like hand washing during Corona time, the campaigns caught the imagination of people and achieved success.
The Prime Minister said the achievement should come with enhanced modesty.
The Prime Minister also noted the diversity in the fields in which awards have been given this year. He said that when a small idea is supported by the right action, results are impressive. Mr. Modi asked the children to believe in action as he said that the interplay of ideas and action triggers responses which inspire people for greater things. He advised the children not to rest on their laurels and urged them to continue striving for better results in their lives. The Prime Minister advises children to read a biography or autobiography of a well known personality to get inspiration from their lives.
The Prime Minister also asked the children to commit to the three pledges of consistency, country and humility. Union Women & Child Development Minister Smriti Irani was also present on the occasion.
The Union Government has been conferring the Bal Shakti Puraskar under Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to the children with exceptional abilities and outstanding achievement in the fields of innovation, scholastic achievements, sports, arts and culture, social service and bravery. This year, 32 applicants from across the country, under different categories of Bal Shakti Puraskar, have been selected for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar-2021.
