The Jammu and Kashmir administration is working on effective implementation of Himayat Mission. Under this, 42 projects have been sanctioned for training and placement target of 68,134 youths.
They are provided free skill training for a duration ranging from 3 to 12 months. They will be trained in a range of skills with the provision to provide placement to every trained candidate.
63 Training centres have been set up within & outside the Union Territory with the enrollment of 5815 candidates.
Meanwhile, a formal sanction has been accorded to the introduction of Jammu and Kashmir Transport Subsidy Scheme for replacement of 15-year-old buses.
According to the order issued by the Principal Secretary of the Transport Department, the scheme is to provide impetus to the public transport by providing subsidy to the transporters for introducing new eco-friendly fuel-efficient buses.
While answering a question, Mr Thakur said, the government has also conducted financial literacy programmes in different parts of the country to create awareness among the people for such schemes. Referring to Jan Dhan Yojana, the Minister said, till 16th of last month, over 37 crore bank accounts of poor people had been opened and over one lakh crore rupees were deposited.
He said, the direct collection has witnessed a significant jump from 6.35 lakh core rupees in 2013-14 to 11.38 lakh crore rupees during last fiscal.
The government is committed to make the country a five trillion dollar economy by 2025, he added.
