AMN / NEW DELHI

President Ram Nath Kovind has appreciated Bangladesh’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. He said the two countries’ joint efforts to defeat terrorism, insurgency and violent extremism are yielding results.

During his meeting with visiting Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Rashtrapati Bhavan this evening, Mr Kovind said, India is deeply committed to further strengthening its relationship with the neighbouring country on the basis of mutual trust and understanding.

He said the bilateral ties are doing exceedingly well, and the two countries are together writing a golden chapter of their partnership. The President said, Bangladesh is a role model for developing countries as far as socio-economic development is concerned, and New Delhi is honoured to be Dhaka’s partner in this journey.

Mr Kovind expressed confidence that India-Bangladesh bilateral projects will create a connected and prosperous neighbourhood. He also said India accords the highest priority to its ties with Bangladesh. The partnership is historical, time-tested, enduring and forged in the Liberation War of 1971.
