India and China have agreed to organise 100 activities to further strengthen people-to-people ties. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said this today while addressing the 4th India-China Media Forum after meeting with Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister, Wang Yi in Beijing.

Dr Jaishankar said, some suggestions were made by the Chinese side to expand the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, and India is deeply appreciative of those initiatives.

He added that four MoUs were concluded in various fields including traditional medicine, and sports. Dr Jaishankar said, both sides have also agreed on a Plan of Action for bilateral engagements for the year 2020.

He said, today’s discussions were especially significant as India prepares for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India for the 2nd Informal Summit later this year and celebrating the 70th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations next year.

Earlier today, the External Affairs Minister met Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan. They discussed the evolving global situation and the larger rebalancing that reflects the rise of India and China as two large developing countries.
