West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has cancelled her plan of attending the swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.

In a tweet today, she alleged that BJP is claiming death of 54 party supporters in Political violence in West Bengal. She said all these deaths were for various other reasons and not related to politics. Ms Banerjee said that this situation has compelled her not to attend the ceremony.

She said that the swearing in ceremony is an august occasion to celebrate democracy and it should not be devalued by any political party to score political points from it. Earlier she said, she will attend the swearing in ceremony accepting the constitutional invitation.

The BJP has invited the families of the party workers who were killed during different clashes with ruling Trinamool Congress activists for tomorrow’s swearing in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
