As many as 139 FIRs and daily diary entries were filed against political parties and others here for violation of the model code of conduct, the Delhi CEO said.

The statistics surveillance team of Delhi’s chief electoral office constituted to keep an eye on the expenses of political parties, has seized Rs 2.38 crore in cash and also seized 266.31 kg of narcotics and drugs.

“A total of 139 FIRs or DD (daily diary) entries have been lodged till date in connection with the violation of the model code of conduct,” the office of the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said in a statement.

A total of 293809 hoardings/banners/posters have been removed in all over Delhi out of which 30533 are removed from New Delhi Municipal Council, 43075 from East Delhi Municipal Corporation, 2411 from Delhi Cantonment Board, 118456 from South Delhi Municipal Corporation, and 99334 from North Delhi Municipal Corporation respectively.

Under violation of model code of conduct, up to 11.04.2019, a total of 139 FIR’s/DD entry have been lodged, out of which, Fifteen is against Aam Aadmi Party (8 FIR’s and 7 DD entry), Nineteen against Bhartiya Janata Party (14 FIR’s and 5 DD entry), Four against Congress Party (4 DD entry), One against Bahujan Samaj Party (1 DD entry) and one against Samajwadi Party(1 DD entry) and 99 are against under the head of others/non-political.

Till Date, 1361 bottles, 91 Half, 110885 quarters of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 804 bottles, 1095 Half, 221620 quarters of Country liquor and 5807 bottles beer were seized. A total number of 777 FIR’s have been registered in Excise Act and 775 persons are arrested in the Excise Act.

Till date cash of Rs 2,38,02,200/- has been seized by SST/FST, 397 numbers of unlicensed arms/weapons seized and 2500 numbers of cartridges/explosives/bombs seized. Whereas 4319 licensed arms deposited, 59492 persons have been booked under various sections of CRPC/Delhi Police Act, as preventive action measures.

285 FIR’s have been registered under Arms Act, in which 329 persons are arrested and 266.318 Kg. Narcotics/Drugs are seized respectively. As on date (11.04.2019), 24 cases are recorded against the violation in other cases (misuse of vehicles, violation of loudspeakers, illegal meetings and gratification of electors, etc.

Meanwhile, there are about 1, 41, 55,732 total voters in Delhi. Of these, 77, 90,211 are male, 63, 63,831 are females, 690 belong to Third Gender category. Besides, there are 40 overseas electors.
