Sends notice to UP chief minister Yogi on ‘Modi Sena’

The Election Commission today said that it has written to President Ram Nath Kovind on an alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct by Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh.

Mr Kalyan Singh had allegedly said that re-election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a necessity “for the sake of the country” and the society and every BJP member should work for it.

The Commission also said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been asked to submit his reply by tomorrow for alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct by making remarks about the Indian Army. This was stated by
Deputy Election Commissioner Chandra Bhushan Kumar told media that the poll panel has issued a notice to the Chief Minister in this regard.

The UP Chief Minister had made the remarks during an election rally in Ghaziabad recently. When asked about the alleged recovery of 1.80 crore rupees from two vehicles in Arunachal Pradesh, Chandra Bhushan Kumar said, the Chief Electoral Officer of the State has submitted a report and it is being examined. He said, Income Tax authorities have been roped in to ascertain the facts.

The Commission also said, it has seized unaccounted cash, illicit liquor, drugs, gold and freebies worth over 1600 crore rupees since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect. The Commission said, it has seized around 400 crore rupees cash from all over the country.

It has also seized drugs and narcotics worth over 700 crore rupees, precious metals worth around 318 crore rupees, liquor worth around 163 crore rupees and freebies worth over 29 crore rupees. It also said, over 40 thousand complaints received on C-Vigil App in the run-up to the election out of which 99 per cent of them disposed off.

Referring to Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat, Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain said, there are 185 candidates in the fray, where the polling will be held by using EVMs and VVPATs. He said, on this seat, 12 ballot units will be connected with single control unit and VVPAT.
