Top leaders and star campaigners of major parties are reaching Assam to woo voters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah have already held rallies in the state.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit Assam Monday soon tomorrow. West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC President Mamata Banerjee will also address a poll rally soon.
Assam has a total of 14 Lok Sabha seats. In the first phase of Lok Sabha polls, voting in the state will be held on five seats on 11th April. In the second phase, five seats will go to polls on 18th April. In the third phase, polling will take place on four seats on 23rd April.
Senior BJP Leader and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has accused previous Congress governments of neglecting the development of Northeastern region.
Speaking to media persons in Itanagar today, he said, NDA government has taken several steps to bring back the past glory of the NE region through proper utilization of its vast gifted natural resources.
Mr. Rijiju is the BJP candidate for the Arunachal West Parliamentary constituency. The constituency has 7 candidates in fray including Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki. Arunachal Pradesh is going for simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections on 11th April in a single phase.
