At least 47 people were killed in separate Taliban attacks in two days in Afghanistan. A provincial official said, twenty-six security personnel were killed yesterday in an attack by Taliban on an army base in northern part of the country.

He said Taliban stormed the base, located on the outskirts of the provincial capital, Kunduz city. He said, 12 troops were wounded in the Taliban onslaught, which lasted for over two hours until reinforcements arrived and repelled the attackers. Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

In a separate attack in the northern Baghlan province, at least 11 policemen were killed when fighters stormed a checkpoint. Five policemen were also wounded and Taliban seized all the weapons and ammunition from the checkpoint before reinforcements arrived.
