300 Indian expats from UAE to participate in the 15th edition of PBD

a large number of Indian diaspora from different parts of the world have arrived in Varanasi to join Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2019 which is going to kick-start today. The first day of PBD will be dedicated to youth and Uttar Pradesh.

Kashi is all set to welcome it’s NRI brotheren as elaborate arrangements have been made for the guests. Around 6000 participants from across the globe are expected to participate in the 3-day long event. The theme of PBD 2019 is “Role of Indian Diaspora in building a New India.”

After reaching Kashi many NRI are doing darshan at Baba Vishwanath temple and whole city is beautifully decorated to welcome them. NRIs staying at ‘Shri Baleshwar Agrawal Prawasi Nagar’ at Aidhey village popularly known as the ‘Tent City’ are appreciating the facilities. Around 400 guests are also staying at homes of local people under Kashi Atithya Yojna.

More than 300 Indian expats from UAE today took off for Varanasi to participate in the 15th edition of the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD), which is being held from 21st to 23rd January 2019.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention is the flagship event of the Government and provides an important platform to engage and connect with the overseas Diaspora. The theme of PBD 2019 is “Role of Indian Diaspora in building a New India.”

Briefing the media in Dubai, Consul General Vipul said, “on 21st January, the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be held in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Government of Uttar Pradesh, where discussions will be held on the role of youth diaspora in the development of India. On 22nd January, the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

The valedictory address and Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards will be conferred by the President Ram Nath Kovind on the 23rd Januray 2019, he added.

Elaborating on the programme, Consul General also said “All three days will feature a number of cultural programmes and will see recommendations based on panel discussions aimed at how help can be given to distressed Indians abroad and how can Indian diaspora help, especially in areas such as renewable energy, cybersecurity etc.”.

A “ Tent City” has been set up in Varanasi and in Prayagraj, where most of the NRIs are being given accommodation during the three days Pravasi Bhartiya Divas Sammelan.

Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj in Allahabad and the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.

Special buses and trains have been organized to take the participants from Varanasi to Prayagraj for the Kumbh Mela and also to New Delhi for the Republic Day Celebrations, if they so desire.
