India and Bulgaria today signed an MoU on Civil Nuclear cooperation. On the second day of the Visit of President Ram Nath Kovind, the two countries also signed MoUs in the field of investment, Tourism, and establishment of Hindi chair at Sofia university.

A program of Cooperation on science and Technology was also signed.

Speaking after signing of the MoUs President Kovind said that both the countries have agreed to substantially upgrade their economic partnership to truly reflect the depth of robust political relations between India and Bulgaria.

Mr. Kovind said that Bulgaria can become a key partner for India in the defence sector under its Make In India programme and in technology intensive sectors such as IT, logistics and infrastructure under Digital India and Smart Cities programmes of the government.

He thanked his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev for his support to India’s claim for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council and for membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

India and Bulgaria called for strong global response against terrorism and early adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations.

President Kovind will address students at Sofia University shortly on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
